Greek Miracle (1922)

Commissioned by the Greek government, and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the initiative of the former Prime Minister of Greece, Eleftherios Venizelos, the Greek director, Dimitris Gaziadis, captures the national war effort, portraying the achievements of the Greek Army. Pivoting around the timeless triptych, Homeland - Religion - Family, this short film displays the patriotism and the selflessness of an Athenian middle-class father-of-one who leaves his mother, his wife, and his child behind to join in the Asia Minor campaign.
