Secretly in love with the village's orphaned beauty, Rinoula, Iordanis, the teacher of the Krinari village in Boeotia, proposes that his antagonist, Andreas Fanaras, the handsome son of the community's president, should continue his studies in Europe. Indeed, Andreas agrees to leave his birthplace, only to return several years later a changed man, accompanied by Germaine, a sultry seductress. Having forgotten his solemn promises to her, inconsolable Rinoula abandons her foster family to seek a better future in faceless Athens; however, this is easier said than done. Will Andreas see the error of his ways, and ask Rinoula for forgiveness?
