In a rugged, Nazi-occupied Greek village, the Austrian officer, Walter Riemann, escapes death by the skin of his teeth, after a deadly ambush by the forces of the Resistance. Presumed dead, and with his entire squad decimated, gravely wounded Walter seeks refuge in the house of the compassionate physician, Iasonas Fanariotis; however, his cruel commanding officer, Major von Gerbert, won't rest until he finds and destroys the guerrilla pocket. Now, unable to get information about the whereabouts of the Resistance fighters responsible for the death of his soldiers, Gerbert threatens to burn the village to the ground, and slaughter innocent men, women, and children indiscriminately. Who can avert the impending holocaust?
