Violence is minimal. In one scene, the younger brother throws rocks at his older brother. An antlered deer is shot and killed in order to provide venison for the dinner table. A dog and a wolf fight with each other before the wolf is shot. A dog is shot by a boy after he becomes rabid. Similarly, a cow must be shot when she contracts rabies. All of these deaths take place offscreen with only the gunfire to represent the deed.
A pack of wild boars attacks a character (some blood).
