Based on a popular song written by Mexican composer Agustin Lara, this is a classic movie of the "ranchero" genre. Nicanor is a worker at some hacienda in the Mexican country, and he is in love with Lupe, one of the maids. The problems arrive when El Gavilan begins to court Lupe, making Nicanor jealous, and Lola, the daughter of the boss, confesses her feelings to Nicanor.
