War is a dominant theme of much of the film, which includes images of people being shot down in the street, a dead body draped across barbed wire, a dead child in the rubble of a collapsed building, etc. A man commits suicide (off-screen) by shooting himself. Poison gas is used on people in the war.

"God" and "damn" are used as profanities several times in the film.
