The movie is shown in various color toned black and white tints (blueish, sepia tones) for many of the aerial dogfight scenes yet the dark blood is very visible and realistic.

We see an American aircraft fire its guns on an open convertible car carrying a German General and his aide causing the car to crash and overturn, the bodies can be seen inside but there is no blood visible.

Wartime violence by it's very nature is frightening. This film is very realistic and almost has a documentary feel to it at times. Although not as graphically violent and brutal as some more recent works of this genre it portrays war in a very true-to-life way. This may disturb younger viewers.
