The Hate Trail (1922)

While tracking border raiders, Steve Bain, a Northwest Mounted Police sergeant, finds a baby girl in a deserted cabin and leaves her in the care of an Indian couple. Later, the baby's mother, Mary Munger, leaves her rum runner husband, gets lost in the woods, and is also found by the sergeant. Munger kidnaps Mary, who escapes; he then abducts the baby to lure Steve to a cave. Steve and Munger battle, Steve emerges victorious, and Munger takes his own life--leaving Steve and Mary free to marry.
