The movie takes place on an island in which many of the natives are scantily clad, including bare chested men. In one case, a boy's penis may be very briefly visible a few times in a scene, peeking out through a loincloth; this is very hard to notice, if even visible at all. The attire the women wear is described as being "...clothed in a few beads and a very little grass." This is never apparent, or at least hard to notice. Most of these people are never shown very prominently, or at least for very long.

For much of the movie Mary (Clarine Seymour), who is one of the main characters, wears a dress that extends a bit past her knees, and a tube-like top that exposes her midriff. She also dances in some scenes, which might be interpreted as being romantically/sexually suggestive.

The main plot of the movie is about two men competing for Mary (Clarine Seymour)'s affections. In at least one scene, one of the men embraces and attempts to kiss her without her consent, most likely out of romantic interest and jealousy.

A man implies that he might stab another man with a spear. The other man then pulls out a gun which stops anything further from happening.

A few scenes of young boys fighting, which aren't too long or violent.

A man owns slaves in the story and is seen occasionally whipping them, although it isn't very graphic.

Several people are shown fighting in a battle scene, although it isn't very graphic.

The natives on the island during the movie are often referred to as being "savages". There may also be some other descriptions of the native people that might be seen as being insensitive, although this wasn't the intention at the time that it was made.

A man is shown drinking gin a few times, and sometimes has the characteristics of being drunk. It's described that gin is his only consolation, which gives the presumption that he might have some sort of drinking problem.

A group of natives are shown with bottles of gin, while having symptoms of being drunk. This scene doesn't last very long.

The final battle scene might be somewhat intense. This includes showing several people barricaded/hiding in a house, while several natives try to break in.
