The Mother of Dartmoor (1917)

The story of mother-love that endured all things and finally brought her boy into the right paths, through memory of her loving care. Avisa Pommeroy is wrapped up in her wild and headstrong son, Ives. Ives is jilted by Jill Wickett, who marries for money, and this accelerates his speed along the downward path. His own mother deliberately gives him over to the constable when he is discovered poaching, in the hope that the lesson may prove salutary. He curses her action, but in the end he comes to realize all this gentle, sacrificing, adoring mother has meant to him and her sacrifices are not in vain.
