As war-torn Greece and its long-suffering people struggle to find their feet after the dark years of the devastating WWII, a delightful excursion to the countryside will lead to an unexpected encounter. Amid death, destruction, and extreme poverty in Nazi-occupied Athens, two bosom friends, Panagis and Anestis, fight tooth and nail to survive, nurturing the dangerous hope of escaping to Egypt.
