While lying in bed, a man has a memory of a man attacking a child who was later found dead in the same spot. Due to his disjointed mental state, it is unclear if he is the attacker or not.

The main character suffers from severe mental illness, which is portrayed in a very unsettling way. His behavior is very erratic throughout the film, and may be difficult for some to understand. For example, he is afraid of mirrors and reflections, and smashes the windows of his car and fills the empty spaces with newspaper.

The main character hears voices which curse and belittle him. At one point he shakes and hits his head against a bookshelf to drives these voices out, frightening the people around him.

The climax is very intense and emotional.
