The film is about how the social safety net treats fourteen-year-old Marika, who has been raped by her father. It opens with the assault off-screen, but we hear her anguished cries for a minute, then we see their faces for a moment.

Kissing between two female teachers leads to implied sex while a girl is handcuffed nearby unable to leave. A scene shows one teacher seeming to enjoy frisking the girl, although her hands are mostly out-of-frame. Another scene shows the teacher sniffing the girl's panties.

A man who visits the institution is implied to be seeing one of the teachers there. In one scene a different woman shoves him onto a bed, but they're interrupted. In a separate scene he briefly flirts with Marika.

A shower scene shows brief rear and fleeting frontal nudity of a man. On a wall poster, a bodybuilder appears to be nude but has hands covering the genitals.

Breasts and pubic area are visible when Marika is hosed down and showers, and later when she is outside in the rain at night.

A lot of people die in a horrible manner. We see people trapped and hear their screams in a long scene.

Teachers and staff at the institution repeatedly abuse the residents both physically and verbally. We see violent scuffles that result in bruising, manual restraint, force-feeding of excessive medication, residents strapped to gurneys to prevent them from moving, and forced labor both as punishment and as routine.

A door is slammed into a woman's face. Some blood is visible.

A girl is punished by being stripped and then hosed down with cold water for an extended time. Another punishment shows a girl stripped and locked outside during a thunderstorm.

A girl vomits after a woman encourages her to smoke a cigarette. In another scene, one person spits in a woman's face.

As English subtitled, only two instances, one each of "prick" and "fucking shithead". About five instances of name-calling, "moron" and "idiots", in reference to developmentally disabled persons.

Staff intentionally uses excessive doses of medication to control or sedate residents, by cramming handfuls of pills into mouths or by heavy-handed injections.

Beer and wine are consumed socially. One scene is set in a bar. In one instance a teacher is shown slightly drunk, leading to sexual aggression.

The entire film exudes a sense of dread and despair. Scenes of mistreatment of mentally challenged youths occur frequently. The girls sometimes scream and cry in fear, and terror shows on their faces when they are about to be punished. Tiny cells and cages are used for solitary confinement.

There is one jump scare, and one scene of an out-of-control automobile.
