Aradhana (1987)

Puliraju, an illiterate drunkard and thug, terrorizes everyone in his seaside village. But his world changes when he meets Jenny, the new schoolteacher. She rebukes him for his disrespectful nature towards his own mother. For the first time in his life, Puliraju is ashamed of his bad behavior. He vows to change his ways, and asks Jenny to teach him to read. Soon, he is head over heels in love with his teacher. However, Jenny's father wants her to marry wealthy family friend, Lawrance; and feisty village belle Gangamma has her heart set on Puliraju.
