A police cadet and his superior are held hostage by a gunman. It's later implied that he fully intends to shoot them both.

A former cadet, who was earlier kicked out of the academy, approaches a gunman and tells him that he "wants to watch him off these pigs". Meaning that he wants to watch as the man kills the two policemen that he's holding hostage. This however is just a ruse to distract the man so that he can disarm him.

One of the officers tries to help an old lady get her cat down from a tree by shooting it down. He shoots it down, in which the old lady tries to stop him but couldn't in time. There is a very loud yowl from the cat, but it's likely it was not harmed.
