USA (video title)
Sex & Nudity

Othello suspects Desdemona of adultery and fears she is sleeping with other men, but this is a false accusation. This is simply a part of the play Shakespeare himself wrote.
Recommended MPAA rating: G (General Audiences)
Violence & Gore
Mild
There are sword fights and murders, but this film's version of it is not graphic by any stretch of the imagination, and it is entirely faithful to the play.
Profanity
None
None whatsoever. Every line is taken verbatim from Shakespeare's play.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
None
Iago gets Cassio drunk in order to trick him into participating in his plot without knowing it.
Frightening & Intense Scenes
Mild
The play is a dark albeit ultimately virtuous tragedy about jealousy, deception, and love. This production is entirely faithful to Shakespeare's play, and there is no graphic violence of adult content portrayed in the film. Entirely suitable for classroom usage and family viewing.
Some might take offense at the fact Othello is being played by a white man in dark make-up. This was not controversial at the time, however.
