The two leading characters are shown having sex twice in the film. The first time is just after a party, when the boy (Martin Hewitt) sneaks back in after the girl's parents have gone to bed. The sexually unfulfilled mother (Shirley Knight) of the girl (Brooke Shields) gets up and starts to go downstairs when she sees the teenagers naked (male bottom is shown) and having sex on the couch. But instead of reprimanding them, she watches them longingly, as if she were witnessing something she does not have. The two leading characters are having sex in her bedroom. Nudity is shown (male bottom, and breast).

While running across the street, the father gets hit by a car without warning and blood splatters. After the father's death, two men get into a fight which results in the police coming. One of the men refuses getting arrested and is punched by one of the officers.

F--k was said a couple times by one of the characters.

Characters use terms goddamn and a**hole in different scenes.

There are a few scenes of the characters smoking. Keep in mind that this was 1981 and smoking cigarettes was more common. There is also one scene of the father smoking pot.
