Adult Velvet and longtime boyfriend, John, live together unmarried, and this is discussed several times. The reason they give is that he is afraid of marriage. At one point, Velvet mentions "sleeping together". In another scene, they are shown snuggling in bed with the insinuation that they are about to have sex. John comes from the bathroom shirtless and asks Velvet, "Does it turn you on?"

Some teenaged boys tease Sarah, saying, "Do you know you have a horse between your legs?"

Velvet asks Sarah, "What the h*** do you think...?"
