A rather tense, twenty-minute scene depicts the heroine being committed. She behaves increasingly erratic and neurotic until she begins having a nervous breakdown. Her husband has to pry her young children out of her arms as she defensively clings to them.

A similar scene plays out again near the end but it ends well and the heroine recovers.
