There is a particularly disturbing sequence where a group of young girls disappear into the woods and seem to be in a trance like state of hypnosis over something that is hinted to be in Hanging Rock as they ignore one of the screaming girls who runs back to the group. The scene is quite eerie and many are likely to find it somewhat unsettling. It is more psychologically or existentially bothersome than horror movie scary.
