The Syrian (2018)

Firas, a teenage Syrian immigrant, befriends Adnan, a Bosnian immigrant in his 30s. After meeting at a worship service, the two men form a bond on the basis of their shared experience as wartime refugees. Both Firas and his mother, Rima, question whether or not they will ever find a true sense of belonging in America and whether or not they will overcome the memory of the horrors that they witnessed back home.
