The film thematizes the power or the abuse of power of the media. The summer of 1967. West Berlin in political unrest. Students are demonstrating. The Shah of Iran is invited to West Berlin by the BRD government. Benno Ohnesorg is shot dead by a GDR police officer in BRD police uniform. His death spurred the growth of the left-wing German student movement and the birth of the urban guerilla.
