Maari 2 (2018)

There is a scene in which a man pins a woman up against a wall in a brief scene of sexual threat.

The woman is rescued before any sexual assault or violence takes place.

There is moderate to strong violence throughout the film

During the opening scene, a man has his throat cut on a hospital bed. The act itself is implied only through sight of him writhing in pain as his legs shake.

A fight breaks out in a bar between Maari and a gang of rival criminals, during this encounter a character is struck in the chest with an axe, punches, kicks and blows are exchanged and characters are hit in the face with a hammer resulting in bloody injuries.

A montage sequence depicts various attempts made on Maari's life and how he's overcome them; during this a series of undetailed shootings and stabbings are shown

Characters are depicted fighting throughout the film, delivering heavy punches, kicks and blows to various opponents.

The dead bodies of several drug dealers are discovered.

A man recounts his time in prison during which he is seen being beaten, dunked into water and in the strongest case having his teeth forcefully extracted. The tooth and his face are quite bloodied following this.

Maari's arm is slashed by a masked attacker; there is no detail of the attack itself but a small cut is visible on his arm following this. He does not seem to be in much pain.

A flashback sequence depicts Maari beating a potential rapist to death off-screen. The sounds of bludgeoning are heard but nothing is seen.

A henchman shoots three criminal characters inside a movie theatre; some blood spurts are seen.

Maari is attacked by the antagonist at one point; during this confrontation characters are shot, stabbed in the chest and back and hit with strong punches and kicks.

During the climatic showdown, a number of characters are stabbed, punched and kicked without detail, Maari's arm is slashed once resulting in a brief slash mark and an antagonistic character is punched in the spine multiple times until it breaks paralysing him in a revenge attack. This scene is quite brutal.

There is some mild bad language, terms such as 'crap', 'shit' and 'piss' are used.

There are verbal references to drugs throughout the film, as well as moments of implied drug misuse

Maari's friend Kalai is established as a former drug addict; during a flashback he is seen moving his head upwards from a table filled with lines of white powder. Drug use being suggested however the flashback then shows how Maari helped Kaali overcome his addiction and then spreads a negative light on drugs therefore making it clear that drug use is not endorsed by the film.

In a later scene a drug addicted character is implied to use drugs that he has come into possession of; the packets are seen on a table before the scene cuts to him looking intoxicated with some powder visible on his nose.

Packets of white powder are seen throughout the film as they are delivered and traded by criminal character's. Maari himself does not approve of drug dealing and therefore does not willingly deal drugs.

Characters are seen smoking throughout the film; alcohol is also seen in a couple of scenes but nothing of note.

There are scenes in which characters are chased and threatened with violence however these character's are often rescued before any harm comes to them.

The antagonist is seen pouring petrol over a man before removing a lighter from his pocket, lighting it and throwing it at the man. However Maari catches the lighter in his hands before it can hit the ground and do any harm to the man.
