Fledgling (2017)

2017. Northern Jordan. The faded fabric of drapes hung across the tents of a Syrian refugee camp swell and twist in the hot desert wind. Sydu is 4 years old. He holds something in his hands, something small, frail and abandoned, cupped in both palms like a treasure. As he whispers to it his hopes and dreams, the unfathomable realities around him fade away.
