Embracing Shadows (2017)

Embracing Shadows (2017) depicts a tumultuous relationship between one and one's self: An internal struggle materializes in self-doubts; avoidance of responsibilities and societally imposed expectations; and eventually, succumbing to the riptides of apathy beneath what one perceives to be a superficial and monotonous surface. Certain visual elements are exaggerated in symbolizing a contrived day-to-day subsistence. As days pass into weeks into months, the melancholia looms nearer, a resigned nihilism replacing an initial anxiety-fueled resistance. This is only exacerbated by an inaccessible health care system, wherein medical prescriptions go unfilled.
