Red Kite (2017)

Piper, an 8-year-old girl, undergoes the most confronting juncture of her childhood when her single mother is forced to leave her under the care of her grandfather in order to seek medical attention in another city. Having no self-determination for her situation, we follow Piper's journey as she enters the world of a stranger and deals with the absence of her mother.
