During the Pearl Harbor scene at the beginning of the film, one soldier accidentally rests his hands on the barrel of a gun that has previously been in use, severely burning his hands.

One use of "fuck", plus uses of "ass", "hell", "asshole", "bullshit", "son of a bitch", and "shit". Five uses of of b***ard. The slang and derogatory term "Japs" was used four times.

Many uses of religious profanities and exclamations. Different variations of Goddamn is said 8 times, Jesus is said once as an exclamation, and for Christ's sake is said twice.

Characters smoke cigarettes, reflecting the period.

During a practice session on a aircraft carrier, a pilot has a difficult time taking off with sufficient speed and almost crashes into the water. He tries warning the ship that the conditions are not acceptable for takeoffs, but an inexperienced pilot does his takeoff before the ship can abort it. The plane falls into the water and the moving carrier cannot steer clear of it in time, sinking it.

A man is tied to a ship anchor and thrown into the ocean (it is implied he drowns to death).

Hawaiian residents are shown panicking when Pearl Harbor is attacked. Multiple Japanese planes are shown flying over streets full of people and guns are fired upon them.
