Jessy Sudan is a young, immigrant, low income, single mother of three children who is faced with breast cancer. She kept her breast cancer a secret until her children were old enough to fend for each other and themselves. Once her children turned of age, she began her treatment. Due to Medicaid, Jessy's surgery was denied for five months, causing her cancer to spread. Had her insurance approved her surgery, she would not have been put through such a rough treatment. Now she is taking a stand to eliminate barriers put forth by the healthcare system. She is creating organizations and support groups for other immigrant women in her same position.
