Nishad (The Hunter) (2016)

Set in a shabby backdrop of one of the old boarding houses of Kolkata in India, this short film attempts to understand when a simple wish to watch and record becomes the pretext of violation. A camera often becomes a tool for that. Which looks like a fun-game at the beginning, suddenly turns into an act of violation, even violence. And once started, nobody really knows when the hunter becomes the prey. In the narrative of the film, a camera buff falls into the same trap after he started shooting an amorous couple secretly. The use of double roles of actors, for the viewers and the viewed, also suggests the seemingly absurd but almost inevitable role reversals.
