During World War I, a young Turkish gendarme is ordered to drive Christian Armenians from their homes and lead them to a deportation camp across the desert. But when he discovers the horrific end his superiors actually have in mind, he thwarts their plans, saving the refugee children and the Armenian woman he has come to love.
