The film portrays the complex relationship between two communities. It reflects the insecurities of individuals that evolve in poverty and high-risk professions. It also highlights the constant struggles of individuals who try to come out of such complex and oftentimes dubious situations. Even with such uncertainty, the protagonists-a woman who was forced into prostitution and a man whose struggles have made him into a gangster-are loyal to each other. While the girl promises a lifetime of commitment to the man, the man vows to protect her and provide a life away from misery. Their promises are geared towards restoring what each has lost in their long struggle for a better life. However, fate might have something else planned for them.
