Mezhdu maskite (2009)

Between the Masks is a documentary account of theatre. The film describes the time of the "the awesome foursome" of the theatre in Bourgas (1957-60), as they used to call the directors Villy Tsankov, Julia Ognyanova, Leon Daniel and Metodi Andonov. A documentary about the beginning and the summit of the artistic resistance to the reality, which was imposed on, distorted, and embellished by the ruling regime. This contemporary look in the past is made possible through the recollections and speculations of the artists. The documentary shows how they have overcome the ideological dogmas if at all.
