Et si JALions voir (2014)

The JAL includes four parishes in three municipalities: Saint-Juste-du-Lac (including the sector of Lots-Renversés), Auclair and Lejeune. Threatened of closing by the East Québec Territory Planning Office in the 70's, this community have fought to exist. Forty years after the hostage taking of state employees, those three villages are confronted with new difficulties. This time, the threat is sneaky et present in even more small rural municipalities: proximity services in great danger, difficulties of retention of young people in the region, the exodus of elderly toward the centers, weak birth rate, agricultural zoning unsuitable for the community's needs. Our villages are gradually depopulating and if nothing is done, some of them could be soon nothing more than a memory. By a realistic and minimalist approach, this movie proposes to discover the JAL's challenges through four seasons, following characters who are implicated, but worried and entering the population daily living to understand the great challenges our rural communities have to deal with.
