They Came at Night is a narrative short documentary film that embodies the poignant story of one Survivor of the notoriously violent St. Anne's 'Indian' residential school. Mary Jane's story touches on some of the many abuses she suffered as a child, the painful legacy that led her to alcoholism, and traditional rites and ceremonies that led her toward healing. Significantly, Mary Jane offers some powerful words to other Survivors especially about letting go of anger and loving their families. Now that the 'truth' is coming out, reconciliation must first begin at home.
