'Out of the Tub' is a film about the life and work of celebrated ceramist and educator R J Washington. 'Bob' was a maverick, whose work could never be categorised. His pots, bowls, platters, sculpture and panels often straddled the conventions of both art and craft, confounding critics and curators. Today his work can be seen in major galleries, including the Victoria and Albert Musuem, Fitzwilliam Museum and Tucson Museum of Art. Archive video and photos are combined with interviews from current luminaries from the world of ceramics, as we explore Bob's methodology and his place in art history.
