The Los Angeles River Project is a narrative film that engages in a discourse about the contemporary politics of ecology and urbanization where WATER is an essential, lacking source fenced of from its inhabitants and their awareness. Brent, a shy and contemplative African American biologist, researches along the channelized river. Brent, a shy and contemplative African American biologist, researches along the channelized river. The deeper Brent trespasses the river's site the deeper he enters a parallel world, meandering his attention from purely scientific to anthropological and social observation. Brent finally encounters Marvin, a homeless and religious man, camping on the river's bank. Their shared time connects through the river and unite what felt so far apart: cultural and educational backgrounds, status, generation, race and American ways of life today.
