We Not Me: A Kansas Basketball Story (2015)

'We Not Me' is a portrait of one of the best high school basketball programs in the state of Kansas, and of a legendary head coach, Ken Darting. This story follows the Highland Park Scots' run towards a state title and also follows Coach Darting's last season at Highland Park. Highland Park is located on the Southeast side of Topeka, KS. An area known for its gang and drug activity. However Coach Darting has never let his players use their environment and situations as an excuse to fail. For over a decade 'Coach D' has helped shape and change the lives of young men using his uncompromising and passionate style of coaching. He demands commitment and discipline from inner-city kids, whom mostly come from broken homes. Coach D is a teacher above all things, giving his players life lessons that expand beyond the court. The Highland Park basketball team is a family, and it's all about 'We Not Me'. Coming off of a 24-1 season from last year, with the 1 loss coming in the state championship, Darting and the Highland Park Scots face the challenge this season of getting back to the state championship game and reclaiming high school basketball's highest achievement. But this story is about more than just basketball; it's about a family & about players overcoming the odds.
