Searching for the Nighthawkstar (2012)

Towa (28) grew up in Hanamaki and moved to Tokyo 10 years ago. As a young girl, her father died and her mother went on to remarry. She can not forget her deceased father. He used to read her a story she loved, called Nighthawk Star written by Kenji Miyazawa. The story deals with an unpopular Nighthawk who despises himself for feeding on the lives of insects. Towa befriends an old woman, Machiko, who coincidentally comes from her hometown. This friendship leads Towa to break her vow never to return to her hometown. Towa goes to a local festival and sees an apparition of herself as a child holding hands with her now deceased father. It reminds her of an old promise.
