Valerie is an alcoholic and is seen drinking heavily throughout most of the film. In the middle of the film, she binge drinks to the point of vomiting heavily. Her house is littered with puddles and buckets of vomit. Other characters are also seen drinking throughout. Valerie is also seen smoking during a few scenes.
