While assassinating enemies from a rival Japanese gang, Alex receives a call from Victor, his twin brother. The news? Someone claims to have witnessed Victor murder Masayuki Kotobuki, their father and the leader of the Los Angeles Yakuza. In the middle of his own mission, Alex flies back to Los Angeles to clean up the mess he thought he covered. Alex contacts his surrogate father, CIA Operative Frank Verranzo, to ask him for advice. This is uncharted territory for Alex because he's not a person that asks for help. Frank informs Alex that both the CIA and the Yakuza are on to the truth about Victor. After reminiscing about the teenage years Alex and Victor spent with him, Frank hands Alex the murder weapon and a plan to get Victor out of trouble. Alex must take the fall for the murder of Masayuki in order to take the heat off of Victor and tie a knot to their tragic life story. Accepting this as the only way, Alex has one last phone call with brother. The two share kind words and Alex lets Victor know that he can now rest easy because everything will finally be taken care of. With the feeling that Alex is calling from somewhere nearby, Victor rushes to the window of the safehouse he's been staying in. Alex is right outside, smoking his signature cigar. For a moment, the twins stare at one another in silence. Alex ends the call and tosses his cigar. He walks down the street and toward a car with Frank standing beside it. Frank handcuffs Alex, helps him into the backseat and the two drive off. In this moment, Alex finds contentment in being his brother's keeper.
