Saubhagya Kankshini (2001)

Ramdas Bua a temple priest his friendship with Rehmat Chacha is adored by every villager, Ramdas's daughter Shakuntala is still unmarried as he cant afford dowry. A wealthy Amar lives with his mother he is wooed by Asha but he does not show any interest in her following which her brothers Jai and Vijay decide to play their tricks. Amar goes to meet his friend Kishan in village where he comes across Shakuntala and both fall in love and Amar promises her to marry soon, but Jai and Vijay bribe top officials and raid Amar's companies following which his mother suffers an heart attack. Amar returns and finds that his mother is on death bed who asks him to marry Asha as she is unaware of her brothers tricks of saving their companies ,on the other hand villagers decide to help Ramdas in Shakuntala's marriage by providing him help on request of Rehmat. But Shakuntala finds that she is pregnant with Amar's child following which villagers attack Ramdas whose trying to save her leading to his death. Shakuntala elopes from village and gives birth to a son and raises him in a orphanage while Amar never accepts Asha as his wife as she and her brothers destroyed his life and tore Shakuntala apart from him.
