The revolutionary ideas of Chinese politician Mao Zedong have been compiled into a small red book, one of the most widely circulated and read books in the world. The book was waved in Finnish demonstrations in the 1960s and 1970s. Small and red were also the Maoist movement of cold Finland. For a moment, it seemed that Maoism had become the leading movement of the generation in Finland, as happened in Norway and largely in Sweden. The Maoists of Finland were critical of the Soviet Union, opposed the occupation of Czechoslovakia and were among the first to speak of Finnishization. They opposed Kekkonen's supremacy and his re-election by way of exception.
