After 2 years of online interaction, when Thomas visits India, Malini falls in love, and the couple develops an instant strong emotional connection. But Thomas has a dark past which triggers visions of a young girl trying to self-immolate herself, accompanied by sounds of a fire raging. Thomas, who is gradually plunging into a deeper depression, is also having a recurring nightmare for the past few weeks of several dead bodies hanging from trees, swaying to strong winds blowing through the forest. When by coincidence, Malini comes across a similar news article written 21 years ago by a woman named Subhasini Ray, she decides to investigate. Although skeptical of such a horrifying genocide, Malini and Thomas decide to visit that picturesque hill station where the rumored incident had taken place. Here, Malini meets a Bahurupi, a street performer dressed as Goddess Kali, who wants to tell her something important, whereas Thomas wanders off to a hamlet where all the inhabitants oddly are women. Strange encounters and the devastating reality turn their world upside down with the shocking truth bearing resemblance to Thomas' hideous past life.
