Paul's life takes a dark turn when his wife, Joanne, and his stepdaughter, Lucy, turn up dead. Distraught, he is unable to do any work and becomes homeless. Directionless and clueless, he lives a life of sorrow. Danny, ex-husband to Joanne, shows up in front of Paul and helps him to discover the truth about the deaths of Joanne and Lucy.
