Up the toga, AKA The Pompeii Way, was a "pilot" for a US version of the British cult classic "Up Pompeii". Just like the original BBC comedy it is a vehicle for Frankie Howerd, who tends to break the 4th wall by addressing the audience as a matter of habit. This is probably the obscurest of all obscure pilots; it isn't mentioned in handbooks or listings. Publicity shots suggest that the plot involved a company of actors from the "Olympia Theatre Company" which would mean it was a remake of the 5th episode of the UK original ("The actors"). The household where Frankie serves is smitten with the famous actors, but of course, nothing ever works out without a few mistaken identities.
