"Cinema and Sanctuary" traces the tumultuous twenty-five year history of The Institute of Film Techniques at CCNY, founded in 1941 by Irving Jacoby. The Film Institute flourished for most of its lifespan under the leadership of the Dadaist, radical thinker and pioneering experimental filmmaker, Hans Richter.
