Jameela, a 16-year-old British-Pakistani girl runs away from her home in Yorkshire to escape her distant father, hostile brother and the grief of her mother's recent death. Betrayed by her boyfriend as she flees, Jameela has nowhere to go, no one to turn to and is terrified of returning home. Jameela starts a new life in Glasgow. Already a talented boxer, she becomes involved with a local boxing club and learns to stand on her own two feet to earn a living. But eventually Jameela must come to terms with the family and life she left behind.
