Wine is a matter of taste and era. Numerous famous men and women have been and still are passionate wine-lovers, keen advocates of the sensations and impressions awakened by tasting. Take a seat at a banquet table in the company of historic figures, all enthusiastic about the wine regions of the world, who appear and provide passionate commentary of their greatest oenological memories. During this improbable meal Voltaire replies to Churchill and Rabelais to Thomas Jefferson, Colette squares up against Napoleon - and all with a wine-loving, bon vivant master of ceremonies in the shape of French actor Pierre Arditi. They discuss wines which were once famous and have now disappeared, the surprising development of certain wine styles over the ages, and the devotion of enthusiasts which has made some wines undisputed stars for centuries.
