Naples, today. In a city where life unfolds amid an incessant clamor of people, scooter horns, colors and beauty, there is a place where silence and history envelop visitors, transporting their souls on a 3,000-year-old journey: the vast underground city, where huge spaces alternate with caves, tunnels and dark, impenetrable and claustrophobic alleys. Cécile Bonnet, the young daughter of a French entrepreneurial family, arrives in the city for her first major assignment: to oversee the construction of a series of mega parking lots in tuff caverns. Helping Cécile are Yanis, her project manager and occasional lover; Greta, her father's attractive assistant; and the Neapolitan technical consultant Gianni. A series of unforeseen events and violent deaths involving mysterious presences leave Cécile and her team trapped forty meters below the surface, with no means of communicating with the outside world. With their very lives at stake, they set off on a desperate journey to find a way out of that surreal world.
