As the City of Hamilton experienced a cultural resurgence in the late-90s and early-2000s, artists where vital in bringing impoverished neighbourhoods back to the fore-front of Hamilton's downtown art scene. Now, however, the effects of gentrification and rising property taxes are driving those same artists out. In this documentary, artists and researchers share their insight into how this process is happening, what its effects are, and what the communities of Hamilton can do to combat gentrification's more negative consequences. Hamilton is a city with a history of resilience, decline, and re-emergence, and this film aims to highlight those qualities and begin a conversation about what's happening to one of the most important facets of that re-emergence - the art movement, and the artists behind it.
